                            About our piercer HAPPY DAVE

Hi, I’m Happy Dave. I started piercing in 1997. I trained under Painless Jake and also attended the Gauntlet extensive piercer training program in San Francisco. The thing that drew me to piercing the most, was that I thought I could bring something more to piercing other then just poking a hole in someone.   I believe a person should leave my shop feeling BETTER about themselves.   In my career I have performed over 8,000 piercings and I am well versed in all manner of piercings from head to toe and specialty piercings. I take pride in my work and care about people.

I look at piercing as an art form not a source to get quick money.  I won’t perform a piercing on someone if I know or feel it won’t heal right.  My strongest areas of expertise are my bedside manner and aftercare experience.  Most people come in scared and nervous about their piercing. My soothing approach and communication skills help my clients feel safe and comfortable.  Some people experience problems in the initial healing period. The first thing most people think is that the piercing is infected. The truth is that 99 times out of 100 it’s just irritated.  A big problem is that a lot of would be piercers don’t tell their clients that the whitish yellowish discharge is normal and they freak out and take out their piercing thinking it’s infected, which is actually the worst thing to do with an infected piercing.

Besides the piercing, the type of jewelry, guage and length are important. Not to mention the manufacturing. I only buy jewelry from manufacturers that follow the strict ASTM guidelines.  A lot of retailers and piercers are buying their jewelry from overseas because it's cheap and often contains MERCURY and LEAD which are poisonous.  Quality is also important. I never buy foil packed gem sets that are glued in.  All of my gem sets are hammer bezel set or prong set.  Quality costs more but it's worth it in the end.
